With the opening of the new motorway, Murcia airport now offers the quickest and easiest
route to Aguilas and Flor de Vida. It is a toll road, but it is only a 45/50 min journey.
Alicante and Almeria airports still offer good alternatives, with Alicante being 90 mins
away and Almeria about 75 mins. It is possible to get a good choice of flights to any of
these destinations from all UK airports, throughout the year.
Aguilas was a small fishing village, and like many coastal towns has expanded, but with
the restoration of many of the old buildings it retains much of the history and charm.
The fishing port still functions and fresh fish can be bought daily from the market.
We have some of the quietest beaches in Spain with lots of pretty coves all along the
coast road. The pace of life is still very laid back, which is why many Spanish come here
to retire.
For your day to day living Aguilas provides all you need from shopping to health care.
There are many things to do and enjoy in Aguilas or the surrounding area.
From sitting on the Playa Poniente eating tapas watching the world go by, to walking or cycling in the beautiful countryside.
You can be as relaxed or as energetic as you choose, whenever
you choose. For those who like to explore there are plenty of places to visit, all within
an hours drive. For a longer trip or holiday the motorways provide excellent easy access
to other cities and regions, Granada being just over 2 hours away. There is also an
excellent rail network across Spain, and prices are very reasonable.
